Saturday 9/4/4 

Left Dallas at around 5 PM and spent the night in Canyon City about 11:30.  Canyon City is about 12 miles from Palo Duro Canyon.  We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express which I highly recommend.  We wanted to stay in a cabin in the park but they were full.

Sunday 9/5/4

Had breakfast in town at Tippong’s.  Excellent hash browns and Indian bread with strawberries.  Spent the day at Palo Duro Canyon and walked on three trails and up to a cave.  We brought our camping gear but even the campsites were 100% full.  We ate that evening at the Big Texas Steakhouse in Amarillo.  We had rib-eye and sirloin.

Monday 9/6/4

Spent half a day at Palo Duro Canyon.  Rode horses on a one-hour trail ride.  Left for Amarillo about noon.  Got a Prickly Pear cactus on the way home. Shopped at a western wear store and visited the American Quarter Horse Museum in Amarillo.  Had a late lunch at the Big Texas Steakhouse - steak again.
