Concert Review by Paul Ridenour

Felt like I saw Pink Floyd because this band is a carbon copy of the music and vocals.  So glad I saw them.  My brother David and his kids, my mom, and Gary Malone would have loved it.  They did two of my top three Pink Floyd songs - Us And Them and Dogs.  If only they had done Welcome To The Machine.  My wife said they were a younger and better looking Pink Floyd.  The audience was typical Floyd fans but a lot more men than women.  It was good to see a lot of kids there.  The band consisted of six guys including the sax player and three female backing vocals.  They did an intermission just like Pink Floyd does.

The concert started out with Shine On You Crazy Diamond while we were trying to find our seats.  I thought our seats were on the 4th row when in reality, they were on the 4th row - of the balcony.  It was a perfect place to see them with all of the laser lights and lighting effects.  They had the same round screen showing typical Floyd obscure videos.  The lobby had Australian Pink Floyd t-shirts and a live DVD.  I liked the t-shirt Wish You Were Hear but decided not to buy one.

As you can see above, the band really plays up the whole Australian thing.  For instance, on Wish You Were Here, one hears a TV show before the song starts.  This band used an Australian TV show.  They used all of the Pink Floyd symbols except they added an Australian flare with a pink kangaroo.

In 1994, Australian Pink Floyd was invited to Pink Floyds' "Division Bell" tour party.  They also performed at David Gilmour's 50th birthday party.  Richard Wright played with them at the party and they performed Comfortably Numb.  They turned their instruments over to "David Gilmour, Richard Wright, Guy Pratt, Tim Renwick, Gary Wallis and Claudia Fontaine, and were treated to renditions of Money and What Do You Want From Me."

I will see this band every time they come to town.
