Dr. William Davis Polson

AT REST

One of our Oldest and Most Respected Citizens Passes Away.

Dr. William Davis Polson is no more.  He died on last Sunday morning,
December 3, at 8:30 o'clock, after a lingering sickness of nearly one and a
half years duration.

Dr. Polson was born in Lincoln county Tenn., Dec 3rd, 1830, and was
therefore 63 years old, having rounded out three score and three almost to
the hour.  He was reared and educated near Fayetteville, Ar., and studied
and practiced medicine up to and until the close of the late war.  He
finally removed to the Territory, near where Southwest City now stands,
where he married a Miss Ridge, a refined Cherokee lady.  Several children
blessed this union, of whom Mrs. J. T. Hardy, Miss Alice, Henry and Dudley
survive him.

Dr. Polson was a man of indomitable will and purpose and was active,
aggressive, courageous.  He has been a factor in the progress which has
marked our town, of which he has been a citizen for some dozen years.  He
was married to Mrs. Jennie Beaty in February 1891, one child, little
Jessica, being the result of this marriage.

Dr. Polson's sickness dates back from being overheated in the summer of
1892, since which time he has been gradually getting worse, his trouble
finally developing into Bright's disease, with other complications.

He was a member of the Christian church, as also a member of the Masonic
fraternity.  He was buried with the honors of the latter order on his
plantation burying ground in the Territory, on Monday at 2 o'clock p.m.

A foremost citizen, a representative man has fallen!  Peace to his memory!
